A man has been held captive in a cold hut without heating or lighting for more than 40 years in Britain, wrote today the daily ‘The Sun’.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The person who is already in his 60s has lived most of his life in a cold hut in Hadrian’s roller coaster park in Carlisle, in the north of Britain.<\/p>\n
56-year-old Peter Swailes Junior, admitted the extreme exploitation of a defenseless worker and the crime of modern slavery yesterday in the court of Carlisle, according to the local network MEN<\/a>.<\/p>\n Swailes was initially charged along with his father, also named Peter Swailes – who died before the trial could begin.<\/p>\n They denied allegations of facilitating an individual’s trip in order to exploit him, filed in 2015 and 2019.<\/p>\n Swailes has already been released on bail and will appear in court on February 4 to receive his sentence.<\/p>\n Investigator Martin Plimmer said: \u201cFirst of all my media is with the victim, who has been exploited throughout his adult life until a few years ago.<\/p>\n “He is already in his 60s, something that is difficult to understand, for four decades he has been held as a slave.”<\/p>\n The charges came after several years of investigation by the anti-gang unit and manpower abuse, by Cumbria regional police.<\/p>\n Investigators had conducted the search according to the mandate in the roller coaster park in October 2018, when they encountered the wooden hut about 2 square meters.<\/p>\n After knocking they discovered the victim who had lived there for 40 years.<\/p>\n Officers said the hut was in poor condition, without heating and a window did not close well.<\/p>\n During questioning the victim said he had worked in the field for about 10 pounds a day.<\/p>\n Swailes was arrested in April 2019 and later charged along with his father.<\/p>\n The victim accepted the protection of government mechanisms and was accommodated on the outskirts of Cumbria.<\/p>\n \n<\/p>\n top channel
