{"id":23636,"date":"2022-01-31T13:32:34","date_gmt":"2022-01-31T13:32:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.imalbania.com\/kosova\/the-un-demands-that-aid-be-sent-to-myanmar\/"},"modified":"2022-01-31T13:32:34","modified_gmt":"2022-01-31T13:32:34","slug":"the-un-demands-that-aid-be-sent-to-myanmar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.imalbania.com\/kosova\/the-un-demands-that-aid-be-sent-to-myanmar\/","title":{"rendered":"The UN demands that aid be sent to Myanmar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"firstP\">\n<p>UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has called on the military in Myanmar to allow access to humanitarian aid and address the &#8220;desperate needs&#8221; of the Myanmar people, stressing that last year&#8217;s military coup ended a decade-long democracy and plunged the state into unrest.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The military coup of February 1, 2021 ousted the elected Government from power and was followed by months of protests in Myanmar, which were suppressed by the military junta.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The plight of all people across Myanmar and in the region requires urgent response.  &#8220;People&#8217;s access to aid is important to the UN and our partners,&#8221; said Farhan Haq, spokesman for Secretary Antonio Guterres.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The armed forces and all other parties must respect human rights and fundamental rights.  &#8220;The people of Myanmar need to see concrete results,&#8221; the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>The Myanmar military government has not commented on Secretary Guterres&#8217;s call.
