The letter states that these are &#8220;weapon systems of a defensive nature&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The German government has so far ruled out the possibility of arms supplies to Ukraine.  Chancellor Olaf Scholz rejected such a move on Wednesday while speaking to &#8220;heute journal&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>This stance has recently been criticized by Ukraine and NATO&#8217;s eastern allies.  According to the S\u00fcddeutsche Zeitung, in the letter, Ukraine asked the German government &#8220;to process this request as soon as possible.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, the letter was sent to the foreign and defense ministers.
