Prime Minister Kurti congratulated his counterpart Kovacevski on his new assignment and wished him successful leadership of the government, offering him close co-operation. At this first bilateral meeting, Prime Minister Kurti briefed Prime Minister Kovacevski on the achievements of the first year of his rule. In 2021, Kosovo has recorded double-digit economic growth, exports and foreign investment have increased by 2\/3, while budget revenues and annual business turnover by 1\/3. As a result of the ongoing fight against crime and corruption, Kosovo has recorded a record annual improvement of 17 countries in the Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index. At the same time, from the last country in the region in terms of the percentage of population vaccinated against COVID-19, Kosovo today ranks first in the Western Balkans. <\/p>\n
In September last year, the first joint meeting was held between the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and that of the Republic of Northern Macedonia. This meeting was a confirmation of friendly relations and good cooperation between the two countries. The status and progress of the agreements and memoranda signed during the joint meeting were discussed during today’s meeting. Next month marks six months since the joint meeting, and on this occasion the first assessments of the progress and implementation of the agreement are expected to be made by the two respective offices, said Prime Minister Kurti.<\/p>\n
In addition to bilateral cooperation, the meeting also addressed regional cooperation. Prime Minister Kurti said that Kosovo supports regional cooperation and integration on the basis of equal treatment. In this regard, Kosovo supports the Berlin Process and considers that the Common Regional Market within it is the appropriate and only platform that enables the full implementation of the four freedoms between all the countries of the Western Balkans. Regarding regional security, Prime Minister Kurti said that Kosovo is committed to becoming a member of NATO. The inclusion of Kosovo under the umbrella of the Atlantic Alliance, for which we consider Northern Macedonia as a close ally and partner, contributes to security, peace and stability in the Western Balkans, said Prime Minister Kurti. <\/p>\n
On the other hand, Prime Minister Kovacevski thanked Prime Minister Kurti for the congratulation. He said that this is the first meeting with the first neighbor in the framework of the Munich Conference, adding that the Government of Northern Macedonia remains equally committed to continue close cooperation with the Republic of Kosovo both bilaterally and in the field. of common goals for the region and full integration into the European Union.<\/p>\n
