Mikhail Watford’s body was found by a gardener Monday on his luxury Virginia Water property in Surrey, in southeastern Britain.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The 66-year-old father of three, had made his fortune with oil refineries in Ukraine and then set up a real estate company in Britain.<\/p>\n
Local police said they were investigating the death with “high seriousness” amid suspicions that he may have been a target of Moscow, as has been the case with several suspected Russian deaths in Britain.<\/p>\n
A family friend said: “His mental state may have been affected by the situation in Ukraine. “Certainly the timing of his death and the Russian military attack on Ukraine are not coincidental.”<\/p>\n
Another contributor, according to the British tabloid The Sun, said: “His death raises many questions, so it is natural for speculation to arise.”<\/p>\n
After coming to England in the 2000s, Mr. Watford had changed his name, from Tolstosheia as it was formerly called.<\/p>\n
He lived with his wife from Estonia, Jane, their two children and a son he had from his first marriage, in the villa worth more than 20 million euros.<\/p>\n
The couple had recently appeared in a media article where they said they were selling their house, where they also talked about the extravagant lifestyle with private jets and rural properties in British villages.<\/p>\n
The Russian mother of the deceased was living in an apartment next to the family and was at home when her son’s body was found.<\/p>\n
One source said: “This is shocking because Mikhail had everything to live for.<\/p>\n
“There was a beautiful woman, children and a dream house, it does not make sense.”<\/p>\n
Surrey police said they are investigating the incident but so far there are no suspicious circumstances and Mr Watford is believed to have killed himself.<\/p>\n
