The European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo, EULEX, announced on Monday that it will strengthen its specialized police unit with a reserve unit.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
In a statement sent to the media, EULEX said that this unit, consisting of 92 members of the European Gendarmerie Force, from Portugal, France and Italy, “will temporarily land in Kosovo in the coming weeks” to reinforce, as he said, ” the capacities of the EULEX Specialized Police Unit \u201d.<\/p>\n
“The Specialized Reserve Police Unit will support EULEX in fulfilling its tasks, including as a second security responder in Kosovo, if necessary,” the statement said.<\/p>\n
The EULEX Regular Specialized Unit consists of 105 police officers from Poland, stationed in Mitrovica.<\/p>\n
In Kosovo, the first security respondent is the Kosovo Police; EULEX is second, while NATO’s peacekeeping mission, KFOR, is third.<\/p>\n
Last week, the European Union mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, EUFOR, sent an additional 500 troops to the country.<\/p>\n
EUFOR Commander in Bosnia Anton Wessely has said that additional troops have been deployed as a precaution and that there is no information on security threats in the country.<\/p>\n
