During this time she also met with German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer, who later became her friend.  &#8220;There are few leaders who fit in as well as the time in which they served,&#8221; Bill and Hillary Clinton said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Madeleine knew that American policy decisions had the power to change the lives of people around the world, she saw her work as an obligation and as an opportunity<\/em>&#8220;, They further emphasized.  NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg described Albright as a force for freedom, with former US President George W. Bush saying she understood from the outset &#8220;the importance of free societies for peace in our world&#8221;. Foreign Secretary Liz Truss wrote on Twitter that &#8220;<em>&#8220;Today more than ever, the world needs to stand by Albright.&#8221;<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The US Ambassador to Pristina, Jeff Hovenier, wrote that \u201c<em>Madeleine Albright&#8217;s life was the personification of the American dream, the rise from refugees to our first Secretary of State.
