Russian journalist Dmitry Muratov, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2021, has said he was attacked in red, shortly before boarding the train.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“My eyes are burning terribly,” said the editor of Novaya Gazeta, a liberal media outlet that has stopped working following warnings from Moscow about how it has covered the war between Russia and Ukraine.<\/p>\n

“Muratov, this is for your sons,” the aggressor is said to have told the Russian journalist before the attack.<\/p>\n

Novaya Gazeta is known for writing articles critical of the Russian authorities. Last month, she announced she would stop working
until the end of the war. Muratov was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2021 in recognition of his fight to protect freedom of expression in Russia.<\/p>\n
