Vladimir Kara-Murza, a prominent Russian opposition activist, was arrested and sentenced to 15 days in prison for disobeying police orders.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
His arrest came just hours after Vladimir Kara-Murza gave an interview to CNN, during which he called the regime of Russian President Vladimir Putin “murderer” and predicted that the war in Ukraine would lead to the fall of President Putin.<\/p>\n
“I have absolutely no doubt that the Putin regime will end because of this war in Ukraine,” he told CNN, adding that this “does not mean it will happen tomorrow.” The two main question marks are time and price. And by price, I’m not talking about the monetary side – I’m talking about price in the blood and lives of people, which is already terrible. “But the Putin regime will end this, and there will be a democratic Russia after Putin.”<\/p>\n
In Moscow’s Khamovniki district court, he was sentenced just one day after being arrested by police in front of his home.<\/p>\n

“The United States is disturbed by the arrest in Moscow of important civil society leader Vladimir Kara-Murza,” US Secretary of State Antony Blinken wrote on Twitter. “We are closely monitoring the situation and calling for his immediate release.”<\/p>\n
According to the Bellingcat investigative group, Mr. Kara-Murza was being pursued by Russian security agents who are thought to have been involved in the poisoning of another opposition figure, Alexei Navalny.\/VOA<\/p>\n
