{"id":42773,"date":"2022-04-15T15:12:26","date_gmt":"2022-04-15T15:12:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.imalbania.com\/kosova\/immigrant-without-a-residence-permit-can-not-get-the-lottery-money-won-in-belgium-photos\/"},"modified":"2022-04-15T15:12:26","modified_gmt":"2022-04-15T15:12:26","slug":"immigrant-without-a-residence-permit-can-not-get-the-lottery-money-won-in-belgium-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.imalbania.com\/kosova\/immigrant-without-a-residence-permit-can-not-get-the-lottery-money-won-in-belgium-photos\/","title":{"rendered":"Immigrant without a residence permit can not get the lottery money won in Belgium (photos)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"firstP\">\n<p>An Algerian man who won \u20ac 250,000 from a scratch ticket he bought for 5 euros in Belgium is failing to get money from his undocumented status in the country.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The price is higher than allowed to be paid in cash and the husband does not have the documents to open a bank account.<\/p>\n<p>He had initially sent a friend of his to claim the prize but he had been stopped by police on suspicion of theft.<\/p>\n<p>The winner says he wants to use the money earned to build his life in Belgium.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When I get the money, I will buy a good house to live in Brussels, maybe even a car,&#8221; the man told local network Het Laatste Nieuws, who did not reveal his identity.<\/p>\n<p>But he still has to find a way to claim the winning money.<\/p>\n<p>The 28-year-old does not have valid documents to stay in the country nor a permanent place of residence, wrote the Belgian network VRT.<\/p>\n<p>Because he does not have a bank account, the lottery company says it cannot make the payment, said his lawyer Alexander Verstraete.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are looking for documents that prove his identity.  &#8220;He will contact the family in Algeria to try the generals,&#8221; Verstraete told AFP.<\/p>\n<p>The lottery spokesman did not specify what documents were needed to persuade officials to release the winning funds.<\/p>\n<p>So he had initially charged a friend of his to claim the money at the company&#8217;s headquarters in Brussels, as is done with winners over \u20ac 100,000.<\/p>\n<p>But he and two others were stopped by police on suspicion of stealing the winning ticket.  They were released after the winner explained the situation to them.<\/p>\n<p>The winning ticket is already being held by the court of the town of Bruges, near the port of Zeebrugge where it was purchased.<\/p>\n<p>The lawyer said that the authorities have promised not to deport the man until he receives the profit money.<\/p>\n<p>He came from Algeria a few months ago, sailing by boat to Spain, according to Belgian media, and then on foot crossing France before coming to Belgium.<\/p>\n<p>He says he wanted to go to Britain, but now prefers to stay in Belgium where he wants to start a family.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I will also ask for a wife.
