{"id":45268,"date":"2022-04-26T19:41:55","date_gmt":"2022-04-26T19:41:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.imalbania.com\/kosova\/moldova-transnistrian-attacks-aim-to-escalate-tensions\/"},"modified":"2022-04-26T19:41:55","modified_gmt":"2022-04-26T19:41:55","slug":"moldova-transnistrian-attacks-aim-to-escalate-tensions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.imalbania.com\/kosova\/moldova-transnistrian-attacks-aim-to-escalate-tensions\/","title":{"rendered":"Moldova: Transnistrian attacks aim to escalate tensions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> [ad_1]<br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"firstP\">\n<p>Moldovan President Maia Sandu said some of the alleged attacks in the breakaway region of Transnistria were an attempt to escalate tensions and blamed &#8220;pro-war factions&#8221; within the territory administration.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Sandu spoke to the media after a meeting of Moldova&#8217;s Supreme Security Council following allegations by Transdniestrian authorities that two radio antennas had been damaged by the blasts and a military unit targeted on April 26 as tensions rose in the region bordering Ukraine. which is facing Russian occupation.<\/p>\n<p>Sandu called on citizens to remain calm as he announced that he had ordered high security measures, including patrols and checkpoints in Transnistria.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We condemn any challenge or attempt to persuade the Republic of Moldova to take action that would jeopardize peace in the country.  &#8220;We continue to insist on a peaceful solution to the Transnistrian conflict,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>The region&#8217;s Interior Ministry and the antennas of two radio stations are said to have been damaged by the blasts.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities in the breakaway region have not reported any casualties.  But, this information could not be independently confirmed and so far no one has claimed responsibility for these attacks.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Transnistrian Security Council has reported on a &#8220;terrorist attack&#8221; on a military unit near the city of Tiraspol, but did not provide further details.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said news from the region was a serious concern.<\/p>\n<p>US Secretary of State Lloyd Austin said the United States is looking into the causes of the attacks, but so far does not know who is behind them.<\/p>\n<p>Transdniester, is a territory located in Moldova and on the border with Ukraine.  This territory declared independence in 1990.<\/p>\n<p>In 1992, Moldova and Transnistria fought a brief war and the conflict ended after Russian forces intervened to help the separatists.
