The disease, according to his lawyers from the Midwest Innocence Project, had not been diagnosed and had remained untreated while he was in prison.  &#8220;At this age, he re-entered the free world with a broken body,&#8221; said the lawyers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They let him meet his relatives only 3 and a half months before he died.  He had been praying for this day for years.  &#8220;Pete loved his family very much,&#8221; they added.  Coones was sentenced to life in prison in 2008 for the murder of a couple, Kathleen and Carl Schroll.
