Media reports indicated that the ambassador and a carabinieri had been taken by the rebels and executed in the forest.  But the latter shrug their shoulders saying they have no finger at all in this event.  Local officials blamed the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) for the incident. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"background: white; margin: 0in 0in 15.3pt 0in;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt; color: #1f2124;\">But a spokesman for the group said more than 100 militias were operating in the region and did not understand why the finger of blame had been turned on them.  &#8220;We had no role in that heinous assassination,&#8221; said Cure Ngoma.  A carabinieri and the driver of the vehicle were killed along with the ambassador.  According to Democratic Republic of Congo officials, the attack is believed to have been an abduction attempt.
