Colombian cocoa growers today surrounded a military base on the border with Venezuela with “human chain” to oppose the destruction of their crops.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
At least 120 Colombian soldiers have failed to leave barracks surrounded for two days by cocoa farmers unafraid of recruits’ guns.<\/p>\n
Soldiers are in the Tib\u00fa area for “illegal crop destruction” operations when growers caught them by surprise in large numbers surrounding their barracks.<\/p>\n
As reported by the AFP network, the soldiers have been trapped in the battalion since May 7.<\/p>\n
