The tourist season has significantly increased the demand for rental housing.  Consequently also their value.  Residents of several buildings severely damaged by the earthquake protested this Saturday in front of the municipality of Durres demanding a solution as soon as possible for their situation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><em>&#8220;We demand demolition and reconstruction without delay.  How many years do they need ?!  We are for rent and have been notified to leave the rental houses that they need them for the beach.  Now they ask not for 200, but for 400 thousand lek, but where can we find them ?!  We are obliged to petition the government.  We did it on Saturday because here is always a break. <\/em><em>The Municipality of Durr\u00ebs does not have it. \u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;The mayor, before the elections, told us that the demolition has a high risk for other buildings.  We are renting and we have signed a contract for 200 thousand lek\u00eb as we receive, but they are increasing them and taking us out on the street. \u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<p>180 families of four buildings in the 5th district of Durr\u00ebs, which will be demolished to be rebuilt from scratch, have come together to draft a petition addressed to Prime Minister Edi Rama, the Minister of Reconstruction and the Mayor of Durr\u00ebs.  They demand government intervention to speed up the reconstruction process and return them to their homes as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;People can not have fixed contracts until the reconstruction is completed.  We were left with clothes in our arms and this is not living.  We want our homes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8216;The belongings were ruined, if only we could get the house.
