However, its full power will not be available to Kiev.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fa-container\">\n<p>The photo above shows the high-mobility missile system M142, or HIMARS, which Washington will send to Ukraine.  It is not yet clear how many will be sent, but this armament will significantly strengthen Ukraine&#8217;s capabilities in the fight against the invading Russian forces.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fa-container\">\n<p>The system requires a crew of three, including a driver, a fighter and a commander, who sit inside the vehicle cabin while the missiles are fired.  HIMARS are armored against shells and small arms, but are easy to transport with some aircraft.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fa-container\">\n<div class=\"wsw__embed\">\n<div class=\"img-wrap\">\n<div class=\"fa-container\">\n<p>The US military can launch six missiles from the MFOM family of missiles, with enough accuracy to hit a target up to 70 kilometers away.  It is much more accurate than Soviet missile launchers, or those produced in Russia.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fa-container\">\n<p>HIMARS can also fire tactical missiles (see photo above), heavy 1.7 tons, with a range of up to 310 kilometers.  But Washington has confirmed that these longer-range missiles will not be delivered to Kiev.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will not send missile systems to Ukraine that could strike Russia,&#8221; US President Joe Biden said on May 30.<\/p>\n<p>A day later, he confirmed that the US would send to Ukraine &#8220;more advanced missile systems and ammunition, which will enable [ukrainasve] to hit the targets more precisely \u201din their country.<\/p>\n<p>Smaller MFOM missiles could potentially reach tens of kilometers inside Russia, but major civilian centers are inaccessible to them.
