According to financial monitoring indicators for the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, for the first 4 months of this year the number of patients admitted to hospitals was 86,392 patients, out of 73,556 patients who were years old.

According to the indicators, the number of patients treated in cardiology has increased by 42% compared to the same period of 2021. While in relation to 2020, when the pandemic started, hospitalizations of heart patients have increased by 76%.

In the period January-April 2020 hospitalizations fell due to fears of Covid-19 infections. Doctors warned that after the pandemic there will be an increase in heart surgery, due to post Covid-19 problems that needed to be treated in time.

“Covid-19 disease leaves short-term and long-term consequences in some systems and organs that need to be treated in time. “Among the post-Covid-19 consequences are metabolic and cardiac problems, which often lead to dramatic problems that need interventions such as bypasses, coronary stents”, said earlier for Monitor doctor Ilir Allkja.

During this period there was also a 4% increase in hospitalizations in psychiatric hospitals. The psychiatrist at QSUT, Fatime Elezi told “Monitor” that the hospitalizations have increased due to the use of narcotics by the chronically mentally ill who leave the hospitals.

“The increase in hospitalizations in psychiatric hospitals is not affected by Covid-19. In psychiatric hospitals this tendency always appears, the number of patients sometimes decreases and increases. “This is because some chronic patients admitted to psychiatry who complete the treatment, return for hospitalizations, as their condition worsens from the use of narcotic substances.”

Mrs. Elezi points out that fear and anxiety were the main symptoms that appeared in patients with Covid-19 or the experience when their family members became infected. “These symptoms were treated by the outpatient services. “In psychiatry so far we do not have hospitalizations of patients with mental problems due to Covid-19”, underlines psychiatrist Elezi.

Primary care psychiatrists have acknowledged that after the quake the increase in patients with signs of anxiety and panic increased in the country. With the onset of the pandemic the number of patients suffering from anxiety is increasing.

Screening for cancer is increasing

Unlike 2020-2021, this 4-month period has increased women’s screening for breast and uterine cancer. For this year breast cancer screenings have increased 54% and uterine cancer 31%. In the first 4 months of 2022 there is an increase of 9% of patients treated with radiotherapy.

Oncologist Silvana Çeliku stressed earlier that due to fear of infections with Covid-19 in 2020, but also last year many women were reluctant to perform screenings for breast and uterine cancer. According to her, the consequences will be felt in health, as Covid-19 prevented early diagnoses and risks increasing fatalities for those affected with different types of tumors.

Covid-19 vaccinations fall 85%

For the months of January-April 2022 vaccinations have decreased by 85% compared to years. About 14 million USD were spent on vaccinating the population in the first 4 months of 2021, according to data from the Ministry of Health. A total of 2,883,851 vaccinations have been performed so far. In Albania, according to data from World Data, 47% of the population has been vaccinated, while globally 61% of the population has been vaccinated. /Monitor

top channel

[ad_2]

Source link

[ad_1] The number of hospitalized in public hospitals has increased for the period January – April 2022.
