The Balkan Barometer once again ranks Albania the most education-loving in the region, as half of the respondents think that progress in life comes through education.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
When Albanians were asked “What is the most important thing to move forward in life”, 50% of them answered “Having a good education”.<\/p>\n
The percentage of Albanians linking progress to education is higher than in other countries in the region. In contrast, only 24% of Bosniaks think that education is the basis of progress in life, 15% of Kosovo citizens, 20% of Macedonians, 21% of Montenegrins and 21% of Serbs.<\/p>\n
The belief that progress comes from proper education marked a decline among Albanians compared to 2021. Last year’s barometer showed that in the vast majority, about 88% of Albanians associate success with education, while this year only 50% of them.<\/p>\n
Generally people in the Region think that progress in life comes from knowing the right people. For example, 17% of respondents in Albania think that this way. But the percentage of people who think so is lower than in other countries in the region.<\/p>\n
For example, 26% of Bosniaks think that progress in life comes with the right knowledge, also 26% of citizens from Kosovo, 37% of Macedonians, 25% of Montenegrins and 28% of Serbs think this way.<\/p>\n
Another part, about a quarter of the population of the Region thinks that progress comes as a result of work. By working hard you can achieve in life think 18% of Albanians, 29% of Bosniaks, 36% of citizens from Kosovo, 15% of Macedonians, 20% of Montenegrins and 25% of Serbs.<\/p>\n
About 8% of the population in the region thinks that progress in life comes if you are a member of a wealthy family. People who think this way were in higher percentages in Albania (10%) and Montenegro (12%).<\/p>\n
Interestingly, 15% of the population in the region associate progress in life with being happier. Albanians have the lowest percentage of the population that thinks this way.<\/p>\n
