In an extraordinary meeting, the Macedonian government considered a French proposal aimed at breaking the deadlock with Bulgaria and lifting its veto that is holding up the start of EU membership negotiations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The executive of the neighboring state decided to pass the negotiation framework to the parliament for discussion, where the conclusions related to the EU documents will be approved.<\/p>\n
The largest Macedonian opposition party, VMRO-DPMNE, maintains its position that the French proposal is detrimental to the interests of North Macedonia as a state and its citizens, as it puts the Macedonian identity and language at risk.<\/p>\n
Its representative, Dragan Kovacki, stated earlier that the French proposal represents an ultimatum to all the demands of the Bulgarian side.<\/p>\n
“The government should listen to the voice of the people and not decide against their will. Through the protests, the people said that they will not accept the ultimatum.
