The family members of Anri Kashik, the 18-year-old who saved his brother and his friend but could not get ashore alive, were awarded the symbol of the “Family of the Martyr of the Fatherland”, the Medal of Gratitude, as well as the Prime Minister’s Medal during a ceremony at the Prime Minister’s Office .<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Prime Minister Edi Rama emphasized that heroes are not people who fell from the sky, but are very ordinary people who at a certain moment turn into extraordinary ones.<\/p>\n

“He became the hero of his brother and of all Albanians. The benefit of the martyr’s status does not extinguish the deep sorrow of the family members, their pain, but eases a wound that will remain there in the heart of the father, family members and brother. It is our duty to honor every Albanian, these ordinary people, Anri’s father is a man who works in emigration. The government has pledged to protect the children of the fallen everywhere in Albania. But in this case he himself was a child. Like other heroes these days, he became a symbol of extreme selflessness to fulfill a mission that for some, like the doctors who lost their lives during the pandemic, brings to others a wrong moment that heroically does the right thing. If Henri had not been sacrificed, the lives lost would have been two and this reminds us that heroes are not people who fell from the sky, but are very ordinary people who at a certain moment are extraordinary. They put themselves on a pedestal. Emotion and gratitude for the effort to get here<\/em>“, Rama said.<\/p>\n

The victim Anri Kashiku<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“What happened to me should not happen to anyone, this is so that Anri is not forgotten in the entire Albanian nation”.<\/em> said the victim’s father.<\/p>\n

A few days ago Anri Kashiku was declared “Martyr of the Motherland” after sacrificing his life to save two minors who were bathing in the Youth Sector in Durr\u00ebs.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister also praised the marine observer Igli Shahinaj who gave first aid to save the two boys.<\/p>\n
