Guatemalan authorities initially began their investigation into the activities of <strong>Martinez<\/strong> following press reports claiming that <strong>Martinez<\/strong> favored companies related to his family and awarded them contracts directly without going through the public tender process, bypassing the regular procurement process.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>CORRUPTION IN LIBERIA: PRINCE YORMIE JOHNSON<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Prince Yormie Johnson (Johnson) is a former warlord and current member of the Liberian Senate.  He is the former chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security, Defense, Intelligence and Veterans Affairs.  In 1990, he was responsible for the assassination of former Liberian President Samuel Doe, and <strong>Johnson<\/strong> Liberia&#8217;s Truth and Reconciliation Report mentions that it committed atrocities during the country&#8217;s first civil war.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Corruption in Ukraine: Andriy Portnov<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Andriy Portnov (Portnov), the former Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine under former President Yanukovych, has cultivated extensive ties to the Ukrainian judiciary and law enforcement through bribery.  Widely known as court regulator, <strong>Portnov<\/strong> was credibly accused of using his influence to buy access to and rulings in Ukrainian courts and to undermine reform efforts.  Since 2019, Portnov took steps to control the Ukrainian judiciary, to influence related legislation, to try to place loyal officials in senior judicial positions, and to buy court decisions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Corruption in Angola: Leopoldino Fragoso do Nascimento and Manuel Helder Vieira Dias Junior<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Leopoldino Fragoso do Nascimento (Nascimento) and Manuel Helder Vieira Dias Junior (Dias Junior) are former government officials who stole billions of dollars from the Angolan government through embezzlement.<\/p>\n<p>Nascimento and Dias Junior collaborated with other individuals Angola and Sam Pa.
