Five cases of the coronavirus Omicron strain have been officially confirmed in Montenegro, the Institute of Public Health announced on December 16th.
All those infected are in good general health and have mild symptoms, the statement said.
The first suspicion was ascertained on December 4 in a family at the beginning of the month, after which all their contacts were placed in isolation.
In the last 24 hours in Montenegro, 187 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed and two people have died as a result of the virus, reports the Institute of Public Health.
In Montenegro there are a total of 1812 active cases of COVID-19, mostly in Podgorica- 693.
42.8 percent of the population are vaccinated with the second dose of the vaccine while about 10.5 percent of the citizens are immunized with the third dose.
The Ministry of Health also warned of intensified controls on the implementation of measures this weekend, especially in winter resorts.
They will check the possession of the National Digital Certificate for COVID in the hotel premises and other places where a large number of people gather, as well as if the ban on organizing weddings and other private celebrations is violated./ REL
