Manastirliu: Dental service with standards, free of charge for children and groups in need

“After 20 years when it was not given up, the first investment was made in 2018 and I say that it is a historic investment for the University Dental Clinic. Today, with the financing of this year, we have managed to realize the complete investment in this structure, with new halls, new dental units, graph and modern equipment, with the set of autoclaves for sterilization, auxiliary equipment and dedicated placement of these halls, which will already offer a very high quality service “, said Manastirliu.
This important investment of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in the University Dental Clinic, guarantees services for children, the elderly and vulnerable groups free of charge, with the quality of the best standards. Currently, this clinic offers previously missing services, such as prosthetic services for the elderly and services for children with different abilities.

“It has in fact been a long-standing request of associations that support children with different abilities, especially children who have autism problems in terms of various dental interventions. I am glad that in our University Dental Clinic there is already a structure dedicated exactly to these delicate interventions. I believe that this is the best standard of service we can offer in a dental clinic and that it is free for all citizens, especially for vulnerable groups, for those who are part of the economic assistance scheme, people with disabilities or even the elderly, including interventions and prosthetics “, said Manastirliu.
The Minister of Health and Social Protection said that this investment is also a promise kept within the Pact for the University.

“I am very pleased that we managed to increase the capacities, so that every student who does the internship according to the teaching curriculum, has the opportunity to develop in practice what he learns in theory. After all, this is the goal of the university that when you succeed and are ready to practice your profession, you have met all those already known curriculum criteria. “Today these investments enable this and it really makes us feel proud”, said Manastirliu.
The Director of the University Dental Clinic, Anis Thodhorjani, said that it serves about 21 thousand patients a year, significantly expanding the services: “Surgery services at the Dental Clinic are provided free of charge to all segments of the population, especially those in financial assistance , people with disabilities and these investments make not only patients feel comfortable but also students have a good basis to carry out their teaching practices. At the Dental Clinic, 400 students a week are in these rooms.
Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, prof. Edit Xhajanka assessed this investment as the most important for the students but also for the service for the citizens in need.

“This is a great achievement in the field of dentistry, because before I was right, there were shortcomings in the infrastructure part and the students felt limited in the internship part, having a discrepancy between the theoretical part of a high level and practice. Meanwhile, it is a great achievement that despite these investments we see a modern modern infrastructure in European standards “, said prof. Xhajanka.
Rector of the University of Medicine prof. Arben Gjata praised this investment in the framework of fulfilling the commitments under the Pact for the University.

“I feel good today because this faculty has a very close cooperation with many foreign faculties. In the last year many guest professors have come to us from Italy, Germany and recently from Romania. “And I’m glad that they find here the standards that they have in their countries.”

With funding from the state budget in 2021, it is possible to invest in new dental units, autoclaves, equipment for operations, laboratory equipment and renovation of all rooms of the University Dental Clinic. Currently in this clinic is offered the full range of dental services.
