In front of his Democratic supporters, Lulzim Basha has admitted that in the 8 years he has been at the helm of the Democratic Party he has been ‘confused’ due to the dualism and protagonism of Sali Berisha.
The Democrat leader apologizes to the Democrats and assures you that today the party has a chairman and will always have only one chairman, while promising to fix his mistake!
According to him, this moment in the Democratic Party is a historic moment where everyone must choose the eternal partnership with the United States of America.
“My biggest mistake is to maintain, or allow dualism in the leadership of the DP. Dualism in perception and real dualism, when the former president made the de facto duplication of the president a function, made routine the shading of the president with his protagonism.
The facts are hundreds of thousands. Everyone has seen them. This story did not stop for eight years. It is my responsibility that I could not solve this Gordian knot in a timely manner. Berisha on the other hand has been informed that his protagonism is a burden for the growth and victory of the Democratic Party.
However, I apologize to the Democrats today, with the conviction that they have a clear idea of my hesitation, which has also been the hesitation of many of them. Recognizing mistakes is the premise of correcting them. In this free assembly, I respectfully note any other errors from your discussions. I want to emphasize that overcoming dualism is the solution to one of the nodes of the crisis we are talking about. Today the party has a chairman and it should always have a chairman.
On the other hand, we set a standard in our attitude towards persons declared non grata by the US: their exclusion from politics. Because the US use of sanctions against corrupt officials and former officials in Albania has been and is a crucial factor in overthrowing the current and long-standing rule of corruption and impunity in Albania.
What could we do, what could I do when the blow fell on our house? To violate the standard that we, all together, from the First to the Last, including Sali Berisha, had set, when non grata announcements fell on Rama’s collaborators and allies? Would not this be the peak of hypocrisy before the Albanians?
Would we have the face to mention anti-corruption, would anyone believe us, would not our attitudes and commitments become ashes and ashes like stale slogans“, Said Basha.
