The leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, a day after the holding of the National Assembly and the referendum for his dismissal, through a video message says that the Democrats chose the future and not the past, referring to Sali Berisha.
“What happened after September 9 is unquestionably changing us. And today we choose to change for the better. Because what will be the Democratic Party today, Albania will be tomorrow!
Therefore, this Assembly is developed as a conscious act, of a high responsibility by the Democratic Party for a vital moment, essential and without a second in our history since its inception.
We are the first opposition party, the party of hope of the Albanians and without any discussion we have to be where both Albania and the Albanians have to be, in the natural position in the western civilization.
This extraordinary Assembly convenes to decide more clearly than ever and I want to hear more than ever from the delegates: Will we choose the future? YES! ”, says Basha.
The riots within the DP deepened even more the day before, after the referendum on the dismissal of Basha was held, where about 44 thousand Democrats voted in favor.
At the same time, the National Assembly convened by Basha was held, where the resolution of the National Council was approved.
According to the resolution, the December 11 meeting of the Assembly convened by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha is illegal and its decisions are null and void and have no political or legal value for the DP.
But this did not stop Berisha at all, who after the referendum results came out, went to the blue headquarters together with dozens of his supporters, while inside the building, the meeting of the party leadership was being held.
