The asphalting of some secondary roads in the city of Durrës continues to provoke the reaction of residents, who demand not just the improvement of roads in their neighborhoods, but the complete rehabilitation of road infrastructure, including the sewerage network.
Residents of the street “King of Arbri” in the area of the beach, have protested on Wednesday in front of the municipality of Durres, as these days they are working to pave their road.
“Here they say we will do it like in Dubai and the road is not being done even like in Iraq. There is only water there. now that the road is made without sewers we will be worse. “All the water inside the house.”
“This is a catastrophe for us. Now it will become horror at all. Better not to do that than that. I was told in the region: “You asked for a road, if we do it with asphalt, we have no plan for sewerage”.
“We demand our right, as long as we pay taxes, the road is done properly.”
One month ago, residents of another street in Plazh, temporarily blocked the works of the tender winning company for the asphalting of their road.
With a fund of 80.5 million ALL from the Albanian Development Fund, in Durrës is being improved asphalt layers in 10 streets of the city, 4 of which were completed last week. According to the municipality, the rehabilitation of these roads with heavy traffic will significantly facilitate the circulation of vehicles and pedestrians, while the intervention for the sewerage network will be done at another time, still undecided by the authorities as the project is in the drafting stage.
