In northern Macedonia, the new government is expected to be voted on in mid-January.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Talat Xhaferi says that with the formation of the new government, a political crisis is avoided, which would harm the state and the interests of the citizens.
“A special challenge was that after the local elections there was a tendency to put on the agenda of the no-confidence vote of the Government of the Republic of Northern Macedonia, after the failure of that initiative came to change the composition of the parliamentary majority in a period of almost For 20 days we were in the position of equal distribution of seats, meaning 60-60 seats and the transfer of one political entity from the parliamentary majority to the opposition and vice versa, the other political entity from the opposition to the parliamentary majority, which meant the need to organize the connection of that subject in the structure of the parliamentary majority, and finally the current government means that the prime minister has resigned from the post of prime minister “, says the Speaker of the Assembly of Northern Macedonia.
The resignation of Prime Minister Zoran Zaev means the resignation of the entire cabinet of Northern Macedonia, which was stated by the Assembly in a session held a few days ago. The government is expected to be voted on next month and January 18 is seen as an opportunity when the neighboring country will have a new executive mandate starting from January 29 “, said Tala Xhaferri, Speaker of the Assembly of Northern Macedonia.
Xhaferi stresses the need for the country to adhere to the rule that elections are held every four years, except when MPs decide to dissolve parliament.
“A new political crisis has been avoided due to the fact that the Republic of Northern Macedonia from 2008 onwards five parliamentary election cycles are early and by constitutional definition early elections are the exception as a rule, unfortunately, the exception is already established as a rule in In this context, I think we should return to the four-year rule of parliamentary elections. […] The political crisis, however, would damage the country and the interests of the citizens here, but it would also damage the processes, it is inalienable. , be it international relations, be it the situation inside the country“, Adds the Speaker of the Assembly of Northern Macedonia.
On December 23, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev submitted his resignation to the Assembly of Northern Macedonia. This move came as a result of the poor result in the October local elections.
