The first meeting of special representatives from Turkey and Armenia will be held on January 14, the Turkish Foreign Ministry announced.
The meeting of special envoys will be held in Moscow to discuss steps to normalize bilateral relations.
On December 15, Turkey appointed Serdar Kılıç, a former ambassador to the United States, as a special envoy to discuss normalization steps with Armenia. Three days later, Armenia appointed National Assembly Deputy Speaker Ruben Rubinyan as its special envoy for dialogue with Turkey.
At their first meeting, the envoys will exchange views on a roadmap to make progress, including confidence-building measures, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said in a televised interview last week.
Russia announced last week that it supported talks between Turkey and Armenia on normalizing relations, noting that “the whole world will benefit from this restoration of neighborly relations.”
