The artificial sun created by China has reached record temperatures, full 70 million degrees.
EAST, known as the “artificial sun”, reached temperatures five times higher than the Sun’s temperature, and held it for longer than 17 minutes. It is believed that the temperature in the core of our Sun is about 15 million degrees.
Information on the significant achievement was shared by Gong Xianzu, a researcher at the Institute of Plasma Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (ASIPP).
“This operation represents a solid scientific and experimental basis for the operation of the smelting reactor,” Gong said during experiments in Hefei, Anhui Province.
The goal of the EAST project is to develop a technology that can deliver almost unlimited clean energy by mimicking the reactions that occur in our Sun and other stars.
