Microsoft billionaire and founder Bill Gates believes that the number of people infected with coronavirus in some countries will decrease after the Omicron wave and then the coronavirus will be treated as a seasonal flu.
“As the world goes through the Omicron wave, health systems will face many challenges. The most severe cases are appearing in unvaccinated people. Once Omicron passes, cases will be fewer, and the coronavirus will be treated more like a seasonal flu“, Gates wrote on Twitter.
Regarding coronavirus vaccines, he said they have two problems: people who have been vaccinated can still become infected and the effectiveness of the drug has declined over time.
“We need vaccines that prevent recurrent infections and that should be effective for many years“, Said the founder of Microsoft.
On the origin of the coronavirus, Gates writes that there is evidence that it has been transmitted to humans by another species.
“In the future there will be similar outbreaks of diseases that will be transmitted by other species, so we need to invest to prepare against them“, He said.
Earlier, Gates suggested that the coronavirus pandemic could end in 2022, although now with the release of the Omicron strain, the world may be experiencing a very difficult moment.
