A Republican congressman in the U.S. who compared vaccination passports to Nazi ID cards given to Jews has been condemned by the Auschwitz Museum and apologized for those offended.
Warren Davidson, a 51-year-old Republican from Ohio, compared this week the “green pass” documents with the distribution cards in Nazi Germany. He said the Nazis forced Jews to keep such identification cards, similar to the discrimination that vaccination documents are doing to people today.
“Let us recall how the Nazis tried to dehumanize the Jews by separating them, imprisoning them and enslaving them before massacring them,” said Davidson, reposting the vaccine passport requirements announced by the mayor of Washington DC. Mayor Muriel Bowser.
“It has happened before. “#DoNotComply (Do not obey)”, wrote the congressman.
Davidson did not mention whether he was vaccinated or not.
But the Auschwitz Museum in Poland condemned the Republican comments, saying they “exploited the tragedy of the people” who suffered from 1933 to 1945.
But despite the criticism, Davidson defended his comments, saying he opposed ‘compulsory vaccination and vaccination passports’, not vaccines.
Davidson also apologized for his ‘Jewish friends’, but in his comments he added the famous quote of the famous American writer Mark Twain, saying, ‘History does not repeat itself, but often rhymes.’
“I have to point out that when governments dehumanize people, bad things always happen. Sometimes it’s the next step, separating them. “Unfortunately, any reference to how the Nazis managed to do that prevents us from focusing on things other than the Holocaust.” / Metro.co.uk/
