Frosty weather with low temperatures below 0 degrees has gripped the country. Frosts, snowfall and ice on the roads have made traffic difficult in some areas of the country.
The situation is problematic in the district of Dibra, where some of its areas including Lura, Doda Castle and Reçi are isolated. For almost three days, the inhabitants of these areas together with the area of Krasta, Bulqiza and Ostren have been left without electricity.
In addition to power outages and traffic difficulties for vehicles that use winter tires and chains on road axes that cross these areas, in Peshkopi, among other things, problems have been identified with the supply of drinking water as a result of freezing pipelines.
Power outages have also been reported in some areas in Elbasan and Gramsh. The national road axes are open for the circulation of vehicles in these areas, where the contracting firms have also salted the problematic roads.
Meanwhile, snowfall has covered Llogara and other areas such as Memaliaj and Hani i Hotit. However, the road axes announced by the Albanian Road Authority in these areas are passable as snowplows have intervened during the night in the field to clean them and throw salt to facilitate traffic.
The Albanian Road Authority appeals to all drivers to be careful in movement and to be equipped with chains and winter tires so as not to encounter traffic difficulties.
