The Shkodra Court of First Instance has given the security measure “prison arrest” with a term of 35 days for Eduard Kësolla, accused of the murder of Prekë Tonaj.
At the court hearing, defendant Kesolla remained silent, while only the lawyer spoke.
The defense has demanded that evidence be implicated implicating the 30-year-old while demanding a lighter measure.
On Sunday evening, the victim Preke Tonaj, left his house a few meters away and went to consume something inside a bar.
Just minutes later, a masked man entered the bar, threatened other customers not to move, approached the victim, communicated a message and then shot him, leaving him dead on the spot.
The prosecution suspects that the murder is caused by blood feuds, because in the past, the Tonaj family had two other sons killed. During the communist period, Nikolle Tonaj was killed in prison, and in 1996, the family took revenge by killing the perpetrator.
Years later, in 2011, the Tonaj tribe would clash with another tribe from Dukagjini, where Zek Tonaj was also killed.
These murders lead the Shkodra prosecutor’s office to suspicions that the execution of Prek Tonaj on Sunday evening came as a result of blood feuds between the tribes.
