Ukraine claims to have killed and captured 800 Russian troops, destroyed 30 tanks and shot down seven fighter jets, while continuing to resist the advance of Moscow troops.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense issued a positive assessment of the fighting of the first day, amid fears that the capital, where the Russians have already violated, may fall.
Russian tanks were filmed entering north of Kiev. Residents in the area were asked to create their own Motolovo bombs and use them to neutralize the enemy. The strategy of the Russian forces seems to have been an attack on all fronts as they attempted a lightning strike in Ukraine.
Putin’s goal is believed to be the capture of Kiev and the overthrow of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in order to install there a puppet regime, obedient to Moscow. However, Ukrainian forces appear to have fought hard – repelling a number of attacks by enemy forces.
Big questions surround the accuracy of the figures provided by official Kiev, however the British intelligence services say that Russia has really suffered losses. According to the British Secretary of Defense, the Kremlin “has not been able to achieve its main objectives so far“After facing a much tougher resistance than expected.
