7 dead and some missing is the balance of the sinking of a boat with clandestine migrants on the island of Mytilene in the eastern Aegean.
The incident took place during the night in a place called Skala, in the strait between the Greek and Turkish coasts.
The Greek Coast Guard, which went to the scene, stated that the tragedy happened during the late hours of the night, at a time when the area was dominated by turbulent sea.
The circumstances in which the tragedy took place are still unknown, while the Greek authorities are still searching in the cold waters of the Aegean to find survivors.
The crossroads of illegal traffic between the Turkish coast and the island of Mytilene in Greece was recently closed due to measures taken by the Greek Coast Guard and frontex, but it seems that the traffickers took advantage of the concentration of Greek forces north of the Aegean Sea due to of events in Ukraine, to resume the illegal trafficking of human beings.
The bodies of the victims will be sent to the island cemetery where they will be buried in a special place along with hundreds of other migrants who have lost their lives in recent years in the same area.
