US President Joe Biden has condemned the invasion of Ukraine by Russian President Vladimir Putin, warning that measures will continue to be taken to punish Ukraine.
“Tonight, I tell Russian oligarchs and corrupt leaders who have spent billions of dollars on this violent regime, it must not continue.” Biden said during his speech as he announced a new working group under the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate Russian oligarchs.
“We are joining our European allies to find and capture their yachts, their luxury apartments and their private jets.” he said.
The US is also closing its airspace to Russian aircraft, joining a number of countries that took similar measures last week.
He later warned Putin: “He has no idea what is coming.”
“Putin has caused violence and chaos. “But while he can make a profit on the battlefield – he will pay a high price in the long run,” Biden said.
