Former attractive Russian superstar Anna Chapman was arrested in the US in 2010 in one of the largest anti-espionage operations in history, but has since become famous in her home country as a presenter or lingerie model.
The 40-year-old was on the front pages of newspapers in 2010 when she was denounced as a “sleeping” agent in the US after the investigation of FBI.
After her arrest, she was deported to Russia as part of an exchange operation between Russian and American agents, but the seductive redhead has continued her activity from modeling on the catwalk to promoting Russia and Vladimir Putin on social networks.
She has recently spoken in support of her compatriots during the operation to invade Ukraine.
Illustrating a photo with a revealing red dress, she wrote: “I have never seen such a wave of brave patriots.”
Anna had managed to gain US residency after having British citizenship from her marriage to Alex Chapman.
The couple met at a concert in London in 2001, to get married a year later and to divorce in 2006.
After her arrest in 2010, husband Alex said he was “not surprised”, adding that her father Vasily Kushchenko had been a senior KGB official.
Recalling the first time he met Vasily during the couple’s honeymoon in Zimbabwe – where his ex-father-in-law worked as a diplomat – Alex told The Telegraph“He did not trust anyone. He asked me why I had chosen a Russian bride and what to look for in Russia. “I told him I did not want anything but he did not obey.”
Consequently Anna admitted the conspiracy allegations to act as an agent of a foreign government to perform duties in the US on behalf of the Russian Federation.
The 10 Russian ‘sleeping’ agents were exchanged for four Russians caught spying for the US, including Sergei Skripal who worked as a dual agent for Britain, and attempted poisoning in Salisbury in 2018.
Although most former Soviet agents remain out of television attention after the arrests, Anna quickly became popular on Russian television and in magazines.
Since 2011 she has presented the Russian program “Secrets of the World” and has been the editor of Venture Business News magazine.
Anna also appeared on the cover of the Russian edition of Maxim magazine in lingerie, and was included in the list of 100 sexiest women.
In 2018, amid the conflict in Syria, Anna called on Putin to blow up British warships: “God save us, but if there is an open Russia-US conflict, our attack should not be directed only at the Americans but also at the British warships.”
“If something unpleasant happened to them, such as falling to the bottom of the sea, the British aristocracy would return to earth very soon,” she said.
