Ukraine has warned that it can not rule out the possibility of Belarus joining the Russian occupation in the coming hours.
The warning comes after a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko in Moscow and Ukrainian officials warned that Belarusian troops could be ordered to cross the border on Friday evening.
“According to preliminary data, Belarusian troops may be involved in the attack on March 11 at 21:00,” Ukraine said in a statement.
Officials claimed that Putin could order Russian bombers to leave Ukrainian territory to bomb targets in Belarus, giving Lukashenko an excuse to launch an invasion.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said the attack was an attempt to “force the current Belarusian leadership to go to war against Ukraine.”
On Friday Russia extended its attack on Ukraine, attacking two new countries, that of Lutsk and the Dnipro.
