Ukrainian President Vlodymyr Zelensky urged Russian mothers on Friday not to send their children to the battlefield and to be vigilant about their whereabouts.
“Zelensky told them in a video address: ‘Do not send your children to war in a foreign country.’
He said not to believe the promises that the children will be sent somewhere for training, or in non-combat conditions, and to act immediately if there are doubts that they will leave for Ukraine.
This address comes after Russia acknowledged on Wednesday, for the first time, the presence of recruits among its forces in Ukraine – most of whom have not been treated for war – and that some of them have been captured.
The Ukrainian government has accused Russia of preventing evacuations.
According to her, the Russian attacks have again prevented people from leaving Mariupol.
Authorities have said more than 1,500 people have been killed in Mariupol and those who remain are living in extremely low temperatures.
This city currently has little water and few food and water supplies.
In his latest address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized Russia for blocking people in the city and refusing to send urgent humanitarian aid.
Zelensky has said fewer evacuations have been carried out from four key cities in recent days, due to ongoing Russian attacks.
Moscow’s attack on Ukraine began in the early hours of February 24.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a “special operation” to demilitarize Ukraine.
The Kremlin action has sparked outrage and been condemned in many parts of the world.
The United States and its allies have responded with harsh sanctions against Moscow.
