The master of American espionage, General James Clapper who oversaw the CIA, the FBI, the NSA and served as one of President Barack Obama’s top advisers has made public some details of what intelligence work can be done to determine which is the mood of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Putin has been largely isolated, especially in the last two years with the pandemic, and the deterioration of this is the fact that he has very few people who really have access to him, which makes it very difficult to gather information. He told BBC Radio 4’s Today program.
Intelligence officers will examine the images and speeches both in content and in the manner in which they are delivered by Putin.
“Putin has done a lot of things that are not in line with his ‘traditional, cold, pragmatic behavior, as if he were a machine,'” he said.
Asked if he is rational, he says: Sit is hoped that if you are dealing with a head of state who has his finger on the button of the largest nuclear arsenal in the globe, he is thinking rationally. I think from many points of view, he is very rational… But I know that his demeanor and demeanor have changed recently compared to what he was.
“Are we paying the price for mistakes made in the past by not acting when the lines were crossed, such as when Crimea was annexed or when chemical weapons were used in Syria?” “he would have lived through all this, which would have made him soften his public statements and be very cautious.” said Clapper.
