Italy coach Roberto Mancini spoke for the first time four days after the loss to Northern Macedonia, which eliminated the “azzurri” from the final stage of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
At the press conference ahead of the friendly with Turkey, the coach spoke about the future. Mancini stressed that they have to recover as they expect very important matches ahead.
Excerpts from the conference:
What have you decided? Will you stay?
We have discussed with the President in recent days and we are in the same line. We will discuss this part in the coming days. Now let’s focus on the next game and discuss things that make us better in the future.
Will the match against Turkey be the beginning of a new cycle?
We need to get over it and remember that there will also be important matches in the future.
Why did Jorginho, Immobile and Insigne leave?
I asked them to leave because if we could do something for them and their clubs, it was exactly not the thing. They would not play as they were in poor physical condition. I even sent Florenzi and Politano back to their clubs, as they would not play for the same reason.
