The reduction of oil prices on international stock exchanges is reflected in a slight decline in the domestic market.
According to the decision of the Transparency Board, oil will be sold for 237 ALL per liter, from 245 ALL. Gasoline has also been reduced and sold for 218 lek per liter.
The opposite happened with the gas that has become more expensive at record levels of 116 lekë per liter, increasing by 6 lekë within 4 days.
These fixed prices will be valid until Thursday, March 31, at the next board meeting that will review them again.
Oil is currently showing a downward trend in international markets, falling below $ 110 a barrel, after staying for almost a week at the $ 120 quota, as a result of traders’ concern about a possible supply chain disruption due to rising tensions. from the Russia-Ukraine war.
Despite the slight decline this Tuesday, the price of oil in the country still remains among the highest in the region, after Northern Macedonia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina who calculate a liter of oil below 1.7 euros.
Fluctuations in international markets are making prices volatile even in the domestic market, where the wave of price increases has recently included gas.
But its price may rise further for consumers and not because of the crisis in the markets. Next July, the law on gas excise tax of 6 lek per liter is expected to enter into force for all uses by consumers, including heating and cooking.
Currently, today this tax is paid only for gas used for vehicles at 8 lek per liter. The imposition of this unified tax at 6 lek is expected to further increase costs for consumers as this tax will be discharged to citizens in the final price they will pay for its purchase. Due to this measure, the budget from its implementation is expected to collect about 3 million euros. all from customer money.
