Most of the rules against the Corona virus have been lifted almost all over Germany. But in some places wearing masks is required. The possibility of restoring the masses remains.

More than two years after the start of the Corona pandemic, most of the day-to-day government restrictions have ended in most parts of Germany. Despite the high number of infections, the new law provides for only a few general safeguards as of April 3rd. In almost all lands, masks may be required at health facilities, in nursing homes, clinics, buses and trains, and tests may be required at schools. Masks are still mandatory on trains and planes.

Following the amendment of the Infection Protection Act, many conditions have been removed. Adherence to 2G or 3G rules will no longer be required, which means that no vaccination, cure or test certificates will be required to enter shops, restaurants, cultural sites or other facilities and events.

Firms may require the wearing of masks

But despite these rules, companies, shops and other facilities may continue to require the wearing of masks. The federal government justifies the issuance of the new law with the fact that the health system is in good condition and has no problems with the normal functioning of health institutions. But the law provides for the possibility of restoring measures in places where the situation is deteriorating, in the so-called Hotspots.

So far only two countries have decided to continue the measures so far: Hamburg and Mecklenburg-Pomerania. These two lands have decided to take measures due to the large number of infections and have declared them as Hotspots. This condition allows you to continue the measures. Other states have lifted the measures. The law can be revised on September 23, ie before the time of autumn, when the situation may worsen.

Incidence

According to a survey by the INSA institute, most Germans want to continue wearing masks when going to the shops even ending the obligation to wear masks. According to a Bild am Sonntag report, 63 percent of respondents are in favor of wearing the mask. 29 percent say they do not want to wear masks. While eight percent have not been declared.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reports 74,053 new infections within 24 hours. This is 37,171 cases less than on Sunday a week ago, when 111,224 positive tests were reported. Overall, the number of confirmed infections in Germany is more than 21.62 million. The seven-day incidence has dropped to 1457, while the day before it was 1531 infected in 100,000 drugs within a week.

Lindner: The situation under control

According to Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner, even after the measures are lifted, the option of free vaccinations and offers of free testing should remain. “The pandemic has not been overcome. “Therefore, as Minister of Finance, I will ensure that there are still free tests and vaccinations,” Lindner told Bild am Sonntag. But “restrictions on freedom” across the country are no longer proportionate, as there is currently no risk of the health system being overloaded.

Regarding the forthcoming decision on compulsory vaccination in the Bundestag, Lindner said: “The arguments for general compulsory vaccination from the age of 18 have deteriorated.” Vaccination does not prevent the transmission of the disease from one person to another. But it protects against serious diseases.

The Bundestag will decide soon

Compulsory vaccination is highly controversial in Germany. Next Thursday, the Bundestag will make a final decision on whether vaccination against the Corona virus will be mandatory and how such an eventual decision will be implemented. But recently it was unclear which of the competing models would have the majority in the Bundestag. On the table are, among others, compulsory vaccination from the age of 18, from the age of 50, or the opposition to compulsory vaccination./DW
