Elton Hajnaj, the perpetrator of the murder of Taulant Beqiraj, is sentenced to 21 years in prison.
The trial panel composed of Enkel Peza and members Herila Çela and Hektor Sinani have decided to sentence the defendant Elton Hajnaj to 21 years in prison and the charges against him are that of premeditated murder and “illegal possession of firearms”.
Hajnaj is accused of being the main perpetrator who fired his weapon and killed the young man on the trans-Balkan road. Also, his 2 friends Hans Jonuzaj and Skerdjan Gabrani, were sentenced to 6 years in prison each as supporters of the perpetrator.
How did the murder happen?
The event was recorded on March 3, 2021 at the Court of Appeals where 31-year-old Taulant Beqiraj was executed at gunpoint.
The assassination took place at the moment when the victim was walking on the sidewalk. The perpetrator of the murder, according to eyewitnesses, got out of a vehicle, unmasked, and fired at Beqiraj, leaving him dead on the spot.
After the murder, the perpetrator left in a Ford car, and managed to leave, while after the pursuit, one of his friends Hansi Jonuzi was caught, while the other friend Skerdian Gabrani surrendered, being accompanied by the Top Channel team a few days later.
