At least 10 people have been injured in Turkey as a result of a powerful explosion in underground cables in Beyoglu, Istanbul.
Foreign media report that as a result of the explosion, residents of the area where the explosion occurred were evacuated for security reasons.
The blast comes at a time when Turkey has launched a major cross-border military offensive against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in northern Iraq.
The operation reportedly includes airstrikes using aircraft, helicopters and drones, as well as ground incursions by commando troops.
