14 people lost their lives today when a bus with 31 local tourists collided with an advertisement in Indonesia’s Xhava province.
The bus carrying 31 passengers and two drivers hit the pole and then crashed into the road leading to the second largest city Surabaia.
The victims were from the village of Benowo, returning home after a long weekend at the well-known local destination Dieng Plato.
Police in Xhava said human error is the possible cause of the accident, as a result of the driver’s fatigue or overwork.
The driver was one of the survivors and was taken to hospital for his injuries.
This is not the first time serious road accidents have occurred in Indonesia where road maintenance is poor and traffic rules are often not followed by drivers.
