After weeks of uncertainty over the future of Chelsea, the British government has agreed with its former owner, Russian tycoon Roman Abramovich, on legal terms for the sale of the team, which will pass into the hands of American businessman Todd Boehly .
Over the past two decades, Abramovich financed Chelsea with more than 2 billion euros and despite the former owner having informed that he would not seek debt repayment, there were concerns and fears in Boris Johnson’s cabinet that the Russian tycoon would not kept the promise to give up the debts he had to pay off.
However, according to the same information from “Sky”, Abramovich and his advisers are convinced that their latest proposal for the sale of the club will be accepted by Downing Street. A very significant step because the government was the last obstacle for the sale of Chelsea, an operation that had the green light from the Premier League.
Before buying the English team, Boehly had to pass the “owners and directors test”, a test for new owners, in which the English league analyzes whether a candidate to buy a club has any legal obstacles to buying the club. / supersport
