The last time Carlos Tevez came down on the field was last June with the Boca Juniors jersey. At the time the Argentine stated that he could embark on a new adventure, however a year later as he is 38 years old, Tevez has officially announced his retirement from football. The former striker stressed that during this time there were offers from the MLS championship in America, but added that the decision to withdraw was also influenced by the loss of his father.
“I can confirm, I have retired from football. I have had offers, especially from America, but I think I have given everything. Playing last year was hard for me but luckily I was close to my dad. Now, he is no more and this decision also affects the decision to retire, as my father was my number one fan. Lately, I have enjoyed food but also drinks, mostly wine and ferns, I am now free from sports commitments and I have freedom in terms of food diet.
I continue to take care of myself but I have gained three or four pounds, I wake up late and I no longer imagine what it is like to go to the gym every morning. “I always went at 6 in the morning and left the training center last, but now I no longer have the strength to follow such a routine,” said Tevez.
During his career, Carlos Teves has won the Premier League three times, the Champions League once, the Serie A twice, and with the Argentina jersey he has collected 73 appearances, scoring 13 goals./supersport
