A restaurant owner in Pristina has found a very original way to show the revolt they have against the internationals for not liberalizing visas for Kosovo.
He has decided to ban all EU citizens from entering the restaurant.
The symbolic gesture is “a sign of revolt and despair towards the reception”, said Shpejtim Pefqeli, the owner of Mama’s restaurant, which ironically is located right in front of the offices of the European Union mission in Kosovo.
His decision came after last week’s EU-Western Balkans summit, where Kosovo had hoped to be accepted into a scheme that would allow its citizens to travel visa-free to the Schengen area of Europe.
But by the end of the summit, the measure was not approved even though Pristina argued it met all the conditions.
And now it seems that the decision of Acceleration is supported by citizens who frequent the restaurant
Since declaring independence in 2008, Kosovo has been recognized by over 100 countries. But her passport still opens a few doors.
