Carlos Santana collapsed mid-stage during an open house concert in Michigan, sparking fears among fans for his health.
The legendary guitarist fainted, and ended up being carried away on a stretcher, surrounded by his team members and medical personnel.
The 74-year-old then wrote on Facebook that he had “forgotten to eat and drink water” and had lost consciousness from dehydration.
Someone on stage reportedly asked the crowd to pray for the legendary Latin rock guitarist due to a “serious medical problem,” according to The New York Post. The “Smooth” hitmaker was then mentioned waving to the crowd.
His concert, scheduled to take place today in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, has been postponed to another date.
Santana has performed 32 concerts since March 25, according to his website. According to Variety magazine, the guitarist took some time off from his career after undergoing “unscheduled heart surgery” in December, but has recently returned to full-time music.
Originally born in Mexico, Santana and his family moved to the US in the 1960s. After learning to play the guitar at a young age, he rose to prominence in the 1960s and early 1970s, and today is considered as one of the greatest guitarists of all time, while he has won 10 “Grammy” and three “Latin Grammy” awards.
